Work on a stretch of the North-South Corridor tunnel near Novena is expected to begin by the first quarter of 2019, said the Land Transport Authority.
It announced that the S$795 million contract to design and construct the 1.04km stretch of the tunnel has been awarded to a joint venture between Japan's Penta-Ocean Construction and Bachy Soletanche Singapore.
The 21.5km North-South Corridor, which will include express bus lanes and cycling trunk routes, will connect towns in the northern region to the city centre. It is expected to be completed in 2026.
